People usually take different courses at this point depending on what their interest are. After you verify your E-mail address and sign in you will be directed to your profile staging area. Below is a suggested course to follow at this point, but you are welcome to move about as you choose: Check out our 'About us' section. This section provides insight into our mission and purpose. This will help you to understand why this site exists. Choose songs that express who you are or a list of your favorite songs. You will be able to chose one of these songs to attach to your profile page. Choose pictures that share who you are and what you enjoy. These pictures can be of you, family, friends, co-workers, pets, hobbies, etc. (Please do not post pictures or images that display nudity, gang signs, middle finger expressions, etc. Please consult our Terms of Service section for more information on this subject) Complete the Interests and Personality section. Many members skip this section because they are too busy or they just do not know what to say. When others see your profile and they wish to know more about you they consult this section. If it is blank then they have nothing to go on as far as knowing who you are and what you are about. For this reason, we encourage every member to fill this section out; even if you have to do it one question per session. Since our community deals basically with members supporting other members it would be beneficial for you to have this area complete for anyone who may want to support you to read. Answer profile page questions. These questions are also designed to let everyone know a little about you. It is also an opportunity for you to get use to opening up about your true feelings in certain areas. Design some personal pages. These pages are an opportunity to express yourself in a creative way. Read the section on Personal Page design to find out more about this feature. Write a reflection. This is the area where people list entries about what is going on with them in the mist of keeping their resolutions and working toward their goals. Any entries in this area should be open and honest. If you do not feel comfortable being open at this point, I would advise at least writing entries in your personal journal. Please consult the sections on reflection area and journal entries to find out more about them. View some of the reflection entries of other community members. As you are viewing these entries, if you feel inclined to respond to some of them or give a word of encouragement; please feel free to do so. That is what our community is all about. There are three ways of doing this: Sharing a word of encouragement, sending a note of support, or sharing your personal testimony or struggle with them. Each of these avenues are discussed further in their respective sections. Browse the profiles of other community members. This can be accomplish using various filters. You can search by first, or last name, city, state, country, and a host of other choices. Join a group or forum session. There are many groups to choose from. Some of them have affiliate requirements and some of them do not. There is always a host of forums to choose from. Invite friends to join. After you have surfed around for a while, invite some of your friends to join our community. We have a special section that allows you to do this with ease. Please consult the respective section for instructions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At this point you should be pretty comfortable with the site. Below is a description of the features that we offer. About us - This section shares our focus, reason for operating, and what we hope to accomplish through our site.
Blog - Each community member can create multiple blogs. Blogs can be used to share your thoughts, ideas, or insights on topics that interest you. Our blog area allows you to keep up with the number of comments and kudos that you are given for your efforts. You can also subscribe to the blog of other community members, see who has subscribed to your blog, and select preferred members from your supporters list that you would like to receive your blogs. Many people find blogging to be a good way to share their point of view or to tell a narrative of their life or a situation that they may be going through or facing at the current time. Be careful that you do not post any personal information on your blog because it is viewable by the public and we are not liable for personal information that is retrieved from that area. Browse - This feature allows you to look through our database of community members. You can narrow your search down by various filters (city, state, age, gender, etc.). This provides you with the opportunity to meet other members who may have similar things in common with you. Chat - This section allows community members to chat with one another. Community Articles - This section features articles that staff writers and members from the community have written on various subjects and topics. Community Misc. - This area showcases different community member content (pictures, poems, letters, stories, etc.) determined by the contest or promotion that is in effect at the time. To post entries or vote on entries in this area please refer to the How to section on Comm. Misc. for instructions. Forum - This section lists a host of community member and site administrator authored questions and topics that members can share their opinions, ideas and insights on. Groups - Community members form groups of like minded individuals who share common interest. Any community member is welcome to join a group that has already been started, or they can begin their own group. Some groups have affiliate requirements and some do not. Each group must follow the rules that we have established for groups to operate in our environment. These are listed in the groups section Information - This section provides up to date and practical information on numerous subjects that are closely related to many resolutions and goals that our community members have chosen. Internal E-mail - This feature allows community members to send internal messages to each other within the community. Community members can only communicate via internal E-mail if each member is in the other's list of supporters. Thus, if a member is not a supporter then you cannot use internal E-mail to communicate with them. Each member also has an address book. Contacts are added to your address book automatically when you accept members as supporters. Internal E-mail also allows messages to be sent to multiple contacts at one time. Invite a Friend - This is a special feature. It allows you to send an invitation message to a family member, friend, associate, etc. There is a pre-written invitation message list on the E-mail, but you are also given the opportunity to share a few personal words also. We have found that people are more apt to respond to personal messages quicker than a form letter. You can also send your personalized invitation out to more than one person at a time. Journal - This is a an on-line personal journal. Some people find it comforting to write down special happenings that occur during their journey, while others choose to record something everyday. This will provide a road map of progress for the author. Only the author will be able to view the contents of this journal. Member Spotlight - There are two (2) member spotlight areas on the front page. Member's profiles will appear in these areas for a term. The term will last from one week to one month. Profiles will be chosen based on the promotion or contest that is in effect at that time. The specific criteria required for consideration to be spotlighted and term length may change from month to month and is determined by the promotions committee. Member Statistics - This section lists the percentages of members that fit into various categories. This section supports the diversity present in our community members. Member's Voices - This area displays the profile page questions and everyone's response. If you desire to know how a particular community member answered one of these questions you can scroll through this listing or you can go to his/her respective profile page. Music - Songs can be added to your profile page that others see when they click on your picture. Songs can also be added to any personal pages that you create. You can change the song attached to your profile or personal page(s) as often as you wish. Songs are generally chosen to musically express who you are or what you believe. My Events - This section will allow you to post and see events that have been posted by other community members. My Profile - This section has a choice that allows you to lock your profile page so that only those on your list of supporters can view it. Non-Profit Resources - This section is a list resources that are offered by merchants who are considered non-profit. They have not paid to have their products or services listed in this area; therefore their resources are usually free. The products and services vary and are geared toward assisting community members with being successful in keeping their resolutions and reaching their goals. Note of Support - This section allows you to send another community member a note (there is a word limit) providing support to them in their endeavor. Personal Pages - These are pages that you can create to express who you are or how you are feeling. It begins as a blank page. You can add manipulated text (choosing color, size, font, spacing on page, etc.), a song, and pictures. Each member can create up to eight different personal pages at a time. The contents (text, pictures, song) can be changed as often as a change is needed. Members can also delete the page entirely and start over from scratch. Before you save your created page you are given the option of whether you would like it to appear to everyone, friends only, or to just you. The default setting allows it to be viewed by everyone. If it is private be sure to change the setting. Personal Pages of the Month - These are the personal pages of certain community members who have met a set criteria for that month. Criteria participation in this area is set by the promotions committee. Personal Testimony / Notes - This area on the profile page is for community member's to share their past success or failure regarding their past attempts at keeping resolutions or reaching goals. This area can also be used to share a common note of encouragement.
Photos - Pictures can be added to your profile and personal page(s). You can add as many pictures as you desire to your profile page; however, you will only be able to add six (6) pictures to each personal page that you create. Pictures are stored in albums so that they can be grouped by subject, occasion, or people. Pictures can be changed out as often as you wish. Photos are generally displayed to show what, or who the member considers important. They also serve to show the viewers something about their personality. Please refer to our Terms of Service section regarding the types of pictures that we do not allow to be posted. Many community members find this section to be helpful when they desire to know a little about another community member. Reflection Area - This area accepts entries from community members and is viewable by all members of the site. We all go through highs and lows in our quest to keep our resolutions or achieve our goals. These highs and lows, as well as milestones, can be recorded in this area. Doing this accomplishes two things: one, it allows the individual to get the emotions out in the open. Second, it allows the individual to share these emotions with others who may want to offer words of encouragement or a note of support. Entries in this area are stored chronologically by date. Resolutions List - This is a list of possible resolutions for community members to consider. This area is mainly for people who cannot think of any area of their life that he/she can improve in. For them, we have made a list of possible areas for consideration. This list is always growing. Testimonies (site) - This section is a listing of personal words from community members who have experienced a form of success through being a member of this site. Testimony / Insight (Personally with another community member) - This section is different from the selection on the top menu. The other section allows you to share how this site has aided you; whereas this section allows you to share your personal testimony or insight with another community member. Sharing testimonies help to break the ice between communities members. Oftentimes when community members share their testimonies they find out that we all have more in common than we differ. Testimony / Insight (On your personal profile page) - This section allows you to share your personal testimony or an insight from it on your main profile page. This appears below your profile picture on your page. Words of Encouragement - This section consist of short words of encouragement that can be quickly sent to a community member that you would like to encourage. If you do not like any of the preprinted messages, you are welcome to type in your own message and send it. This is good when you are in a hurry and you want to sent encouragement to someone or when you just do not know what to say. |
